My name is Terry Moore-Painter. My parents, Durham and Betty Moore, helped establish a place very near and dear to my heart: Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities.
One evening in the den of our family home, my parents decided to dedicate their lives to building a place where my brother, Jimmy, and others could grow in a safe and loving environment. Aplace to call home.
Mom and Dad could have never dreamed that 48 years later, Tammy Lynn Center would be regarded as one of the most comprehensive organizations in North Carolina serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Today, TLC is more than just a home. Through its four core programs, it’s a place where 400 people can live, learn, grow and actively be part of and contribute to their community.
3 days remain in our Heart-to-Heart campaign. Thank you to those who have already joined your heart with ours. Your generosity and kindness has brought us up to $90,000 of our $100,000 goal. Together, we’re breaking records in our giving history. You mean so very much to me, our board and staff, and the 400 hearts you touch.
My brother, Durham, and I both remember so vividly what it was like growing up with Jimmy and the limited services available to meet his needs or the needs of our family. That’s why I continue my parents’ legacy through my love and support of the place that means so much to so many. Because without you, Tammy Lynn Center simply wouldn’t exist.
Only $10,000 stands between us and the $100,000 needed to fulfill the critical services and programs needed in 2018. If you haven’t yet had the chance to make your annual gift through Heart-to-Heart, now is the time. All gifts made by December 31st will be counted toward this critical goal. www.tammylynncenter.org/heart2heart
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being part of the Tammy Lynn journey and Family. I wish you the very best in the new year.
